Before dinner, I usually have a shower and watch my favourite TV series. I always have dinner with my family. Then I play on the computer or read. I never go to bed late.

Q.1 A. In unit 4 you have learnt how to express your likes and dislikes. We express likes and dislikes in the following manner:

Now write what the following members of your family like and dislike. Read the unit and write different expressions each time. (10)

Now read the following passage about the work and hobbies of people who have the zodiac sign “Cancer” After reading the above passage, list all those sentences which express likes of “Cancerian” people. (5)

Most Cancerians like to be at their home, and enjoy the company of their family. They love to mix with all sorts of people and are a great success socially. They day-dream very often and can be found in a state of fantasy. They take pleasure in art and cooking. Cancerians prefer friends who are honest and loyal and are also very patriotic.

C. In unit 4, you have read about two kinds of people: Extrovert people and Introvert people. Now here is a passage describing the two kinds of personalities. After reading the passage, complete the table by writing the appropriate information in the two columns. (10)

Extroverts are those people who love to be in the company of other people. They prefer to go out and socialize and so they are sociable, friendly, confident and outgoing. Introverts are those people who prefer to be alone and enjoy being in their own company and feel good in doing activities such as reading and writing. They are more comfortable in their inner

Q.3 A. Unit 5 deals with “Travel”. In the beginning of the unit, you have read and listened to the description of Shangrila, a place in the northern areas of Pakistan. Read the information about “Chaukundi tombs” and then complete the sentences that follow with the correct information. (10)

Just off the National Highway, 27 km from Karachi is Chaukundi. This is the site of graveyards that are as old as 15th to18th centuries. These tombs are considered as graves of Jokhio and Baloch tribes. The style of architecture is typical to the region of Sindh and is unique in the sense that it is nowhere

else to be found in the Islamic world. The graves are made of sandstone with beautiful carved patterns. The tombs of women have designs of jewellery, while those of men have horsemen, hunting scenes, and arms.

Q.4 A. In unit 5, you have read about making preparations before you travel. For example, the place you are planning to visit, the purpose or reason for choosing that place, the mode of travel or how you will go to that place, and the travel arrangements such as packing, booking tickets, etc. Read the following text carefully and then complete the sentences by writing the correct information. I am planning a trip abroad and am very excited about it. I need to go to London on a vacation because I really love the place and also because I have to visit a few colleges and universities there. It is important that I begin preparations well in advance to make sure that everything goes smoothly. I think I am going to consult a travel agent to take care of the planning of my trip. But

before I do that, I have to look at my passport and confirm its expiry date. Then of course I have to apply for a visa without which I cannot travel. I must then go the travel agency and tell the travel agent to book my air tickets with PIA and before making the final reservations must tell me the departure and return dates. I would also ask the travel agent to book an affordable place where I could stay. I also need to make a few other preparations such as buy some basic medicines, a good warm coat and strong shoes.
