Mentoring and the skills it takes to do it well is something that can be improved with time and practise. This is a good thing. You are also a work in progress and the self relflection it takes to recognise what you need to work on can only benefit your mentee.

EEvery session will not go perfectly. Your mentee will not change instantly. Sometimes you won’t phrase things as well as you could. That’s ok. Don’t be disheartened. What is most important for young people is having someone who believes in them and is willing to continue working with them. Take the time to think about how you might do things going forward and commit to doing better next time.
