Title: Structural Surveyor

Based at: Altrincham

Job Summary:

Due to a gradually increasing workload, we wish to appoint a Structural Surveyor to join our Engineering Surveying team. The individual would probably be based in our Altrincham office but the role would entail travel.

The role will require someone who has a thorough understanding of how the structure and fabric of buildings are put together, what can go wrong, how they can be affected by previous alterations, change of use, etc and has experience of a wide range of structural and building defects.

The role will include preparation and presentation of reports containing reasoned argument and clearly justified conclusions, the design and specification of carefully considered remedial solutions and their development into comprehensive tender and contract documentation, as well as proactive Contract Administration and Project Management.

The salary would be competitive, but dependent on experience and qualifications.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:

1. inspection and assessment of domestic properties (both traditional and modern forms of construction), commercial, industrial and historic buildings.

2. arranging and undertaking investigations using general contractors and other specialists.

3. Work on various forms of contracts and preparation of contract documents, either with or without the assistance of a QS.

4. to identify and rationalise alternative remedial work solutions.

5. a pro-active approach to contract administration and project management.

6. market awareness and business development acumen would be of benefit but is not considered essential.
