Textual Analysis.

This documentary is based on the fashion industry in general, they explore more in dept about fashion and the positive and negative side of it, also creating the clothes and the limit amount f time they have to summit this outfit. This documentary is based in France so some of the workers are speaking French however they provided us with English subtitles as they speak. The message that is being conveyed is the secret behind fashion and how they create these outfits, it’s not really an biased documentary and they aren’t really trying to change the audiences opinions, they are just showing the audience how these workers can be incredibly talented, and some of the struggles that are being shown just to get an outfit perfect. The sound levels are all almost the same, a non-diegetic sound is shown which the background music is a very happy/casual music, very upbeat. When they show models the music changed into a more dramatic and slow sounds, when something negative is being conveyed the music changes into a more dramatic slow sad kind of sounds. The diegetic sounds are just causal. This documentary has had a lot of time and effort taken into editing because there are a lot of shots, and cuts. They also put clips of models in the past to link what they are talking about. They have a majority number of takes. The location almost stayed the same, in the studio where they are creating the clothes, they also have locations in the dressing room where they are trying the clothes on the models.

Audience Analysis.

The target audience could be all ages and genders that are interested in the fashion industry, probably teenagers up to adults that understand what they could be talking about because for example a 10 year old might not fully understand. They choose this type of audience because many people have an interest in fashion so they might find this interesting to watch, they link fashion into the historical context because they show old clips of models and people how they dressed in the olden times and people that are interested in history would also find this interesting. They also ask questions to the workers and get them to discuss when they are working on, so in a way the workers in the industry are also their audience.

Industry Analysis.

This company is owned by inside the world of Balmain and its featuring a look at how the extremely talented Olivier Rousteing works. I haven’t heard this company before so it must be a small company, and in this case it’s about fashion. The reason behind this documentary was to see the hard work behind the amazing fashion, and see how much pressure workers get into making the clothes perfect, also we see models trying on outfits and practise their cat walking. The purpose of this is to get people to see outside the box behind the fashion industry.
