GEELONG SINGING GROUP CREATES WORLD FIRST RECORDING In January this year 90 singers, accompanied by a single acoustic guitar, recorded an album of original songs in full harmony. The singers, all members of Belinda McArdle’s singing groups ‘acabellas’, learned the songs in just four rehearsals supported by online sound files and youtube clips. The songs, all written and arranged by Belinda McArdle, are beautiful reflections in our emotional lives. The songs speak of love, loss, resilience and gratitude. The live recording took place in the iconic sandstone Christ Church, on the cnrs of Moorabool and McKillop Streets in Geelong. Under the light of the stunning stained glass windows the singers filled the entire altar and raised their voices as a 40 degree Geelong day transitioned through thuderstorms to sweet, fat rain. The singing project was entirely self funded by the community of singers and was the vision of Belinda McArdle who developed this unique music business in Geelong in 2004.
