November 13, 2017 Life in the Forest
Hopefully, your Thanksgiving holiday will be great! We have been studying all about Thanksgiving and its traditions. WATCH for a special thankful letter/gift for you to come home this week. Ask your child what he is thankful for.
Upcoming for December: We will take an overall test in Words Their Way (spelling), to regroup students appropriately. We will also be taking the district mid tests in reading and in math (DVELA/DVMA). When you receive your ‘Student Snapshot’ in your child’s report card in the first week in January, you will receive the updates on your child’s scores.

Please remember that we sort and work on our “SPELLING”/Words Their Way lists each night. The
parent check sheet will guide you. Do the top side the 1st week and
the reverse side the 2nd week. Our test is EVERY OTHER WEEK.
We have groups working on 4 levels so far this year.

Test will be this FRIDAY, Nov. 17th. The students are doing AWESOME on their word study! Last test, all but 2 students earned 80-100% on their test! Please study every other night..

Social Studies
We will finish our unit on Candy Corn science, from last week. We are comparing candy, experimenting with candies, and learning about making hypo-theses. Ask them about their activities.
We also continue to study traditions of Thanksgiving : origins, Pilgrims/Indians. This will finish this week.
Math We will continue adding and subtracting numbers to 20. We will sometimes do this with word problems and in sometimes in sentence form. WE ARE CONCENTRATING ON “MAKING TEN” to do our addition, and then taking away from that ‘ten’ to subtract. Module 2…Lessons 19-23 this week.
