Need all 26 letters and sounds to read and spell. Upper and lower case.
Phonological awareness e.g. DfL literacy assessment battery
Syllables. Sound order. Sound recording. Rhyme.
Reading e.g. PIRA
Decoding out of context. Look for phonologically regular and HFW words.
Single word spelling e.g. Helen Arkell spelling test
Look for both regular and HFW words.
Passage reading – fluency e.g. reading record
Tracking. Language/meaning.
Writing – fluency e.g. dictation – all about me
Dictation – spacing, handwriting, accuracy.
Writing – generation of ideas.
Sequencing/memory e.g. alphabet/days/months
