Debi, you are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!

Offer a variety of classes after work.

I would love to see a staff gym at Winter Park Campus OR discounted Gym membership opportunities!

I would like to suggest a Belly Dancing Class for the West Campus

Offer discounts or incentive points for those attending workout programs outside Valencia (Y, Curves, Weight Watchers, etc.)

No suggestions. I'm just not interested.

I know it is hard to keep an onsite program at the Sand Lake Center, but it is nearly impossible for us to get to other campuses in time to participate in those options. YMCA membership reimbursement would be awesome.

Oh my if we could have extra time built in to participate in programs/classes etc., that would be wonderful!

Allow 30 minutes of worktime to be devoted to a fitness activity on campus on a daily bases.

Open a fitness center at the Osceola campus. There's less of an opportunity to stay (or get) in shape at this campus than at West and East.

Start after-work programs at 5:30 to allow time to change. In addition it might allow time to travel to another campus to participate in an alternate program/setting. Have some type of info brochure on the different programs/ instructor biography / and recommended clothing or equipment.

Clear policy statement from HR to supervisors that Wellness activities are a legitimate part of the work day.

I would also like to see some belly dancing classes as well as kickboxing.

All employees should have access to a fitness room to use, as well, a cafe that offers healthy foods at their job site....

Gym should stay open longer on Friday evening Gym should be opened earlyer on Saturdays and close later.

More aerobics, cardio and weight classes on West Campus. We should have at least 2 cardio-based classes per week. Right now all we have is Zumba once a week.

I would like to participate in yoga or Tai Chi 3 to five times per week during the mid-day or would like a negotiated monthly fee at the YMCA.

I really enjoy the wellness program and what is has to offer. Would love to see some yoga or zumba classes offered at 4:30pm so I could attend them immediately after my work day ends at 4pm.

It would be really nice if there were a fitness program in the fitness center for staff/faculty at the end of the day. Also, it would be a great help if Valencia gave employees 30 minutes 2 or 3 times a week to participate before work, at lunch or after work to participate in a program. For example you could have a program 12:30-1:30 or 4:30-5:30 where staff could have extra half hour for lunch or leave the work site 30 min early to participate.

Yoga offered more often to be useful.

I would love to be able to participate in some of the classes (Zumba!) but the timing does not work for me. I commute from Lake County everyday and am unable to stay late to participate.

Tai Chi at the DTC would be great. Also Multiple days of Yoga at the DTC would be great. I think a departmental or campus challenge sounds fun.

it would be nice to have time off to go and participate in the exercise you prefer. ex. leave 1/2 hr. early to play tennis 2 days a week, or ride a bike before it gets dark.

Accountability and group programs/sports would be incentives to continue a program; however, money is a factor, so if it is incorporated within the wellness program, and the employee does not have to pay, then it would be worthwhile. The time programs are offered always comes into play. I would prefer 4 pm, but we do not have time off from work, so 5:15 pm works well for now (I dislike sweating then going back to the office). The college could offer the employees flexible hours or use of work hours as an incentive to participate.

Include sessions for folks w/limitations, or older employees, so they can build up slowly without feeling conspicuous.

I can't think of any. I'm trying to take advantage of what's currently being offered.

offer any session on ZUMBA with giselle on West... maybe a tuesday/wednesday. East has more options than West does for Zumba & I'm not sure the Tai Chi class has many participants.

Valencia is very pro-active in employee well-being. I exercise nearly everyday and I think the biggest challenge for a large organization's fitness initiatives are healthy eating becuase the the "super size" and fatty food culture of America. I compliment your efforts for a healthier organization.

I already see doctors so do not need advice beyond what my doctor has given me when it comes to many of the areas mentioned in the survey. I would love more yoga classes (I go to two a week at work, but I do yoga for 1-2 hours every day so would go to a third class if offered.)

On-campus 12-step Overeaters Anonymous or Food Addicts Anonymous meetings. Many people with eating disorders--whether it be compulsive overeating, bulimia or anorexia--have benefitted from OA after finding that Weight Watchers, diets and gastric bypass failed them. How about a class on living without sugar? Sugar and fats are triggers for people who can't stop overeating.

The costs should be in the range that encourages vice discourages people to partcipate. I don't mind paying a small fee for services, but gyms offer many attractive packages and promises (key word here is promises) for small sums and don't deliver result and there is always unlying promises with contracts and auto-deductions. Also, all campuses need to be involved so participants are not having to drive so far to participate that costs become too much to make the program worthwhile.

I see many unhealthy professors and staff on campus. I think insurance premium cost benefits would help motivate, as money talks. I think the most unhealthy people are bumping up the costs of insurance and they do not pay the price for their behaviors we all do. The details are often ambiguous. I like to know exaclty what to expect when I am entering a new situation, especially when it's a sensitive topic like losing weight/getting in shape/personal health. Also, my department is very busy and short-staffed and I can't commit to meetings during work because, even though I always take my full hour, I don't always go to lunch at the same time. We depend on each other to ensure that the needs of our students are met, so I can't just leave whenever a meeting is scheduled. There have been several programs I have not signed up for because I wasn't sure what to expect or how to plan for it. I think if the information were a little more concrete and dependable, I would be more likely to participate.

Extra time during lunch once a week, for the class, were can participate.

I have enjoyed the walking program as well as some of the excerscise programs in the evenings. Maybe if an excercise program was offered during lunch it would be easier to attend.

Please extend (open until 9pm and then 7 on Fridays and until 2 on Sat)the hours weekly in the fitness center. Also, please offer Zumba and the FIRM workouts after 5:30 PM. Also, can the wellness incentive points be easier to understand.

If acupuncture could be included in our CIGNA health plan, that would be great! We have zero coverage for acupuncture, and sessions cost $75-$85 each.

The Wellness Program sucks for the West Campus! It really bites that East seems to be the better campus if your are health concious. I think the Wellness Program need to do more outreach instead of sending e-mails all the time. How about coming to the different campuses to meet employees and register them for activities. I thought the walking program would be monitored like Weight Watchers so that you're held accountable. More human to human contact. Get out there and get us into fitness and wellness. Let depts. compete against deapartments. Campuses against campuses. Let groups compete aginat groups where we get weighed in and monitored. Where we have to do a certain amount of exercise or we get booted out of the team or incentives for the team who loses the most weight with gift cards or cash or ... something meaningful like not having to pay the 60 for Weight Watchers. Make it exciting so that people want to do something.

At one point, there was a self-defense class held over at CJI, and it was awesome. Is it possible to bring something like that back? Where you are getting a good workout, but also real-life application and empowerment?

I really want to participate in the classes, but some of them are too late for me or during my class times. I really enjoy group exercise, especially pilates/yoga.

Someone who can help and show you the equipment at all times so you know how to use it.

Biggest issue is Time and location for not participating. I have heard great things about the program from coworkers, but honestly I have not participated, other than attending the health fair. I work a second job and it is difficulty to fit in wellness programs with both jobs and my family. However, I just found out I have high colesterol, so I am very interested in participating somehow. Basic online info is a good start. I am glad to hear that Welness is now an official department here at VCC. Thanks for all you do!

Wellness program is great! I wish exercise classes for employees were offered everyday after 5:00 p.m. I go to Zumba every Monday and Wednesday at East whenever time permits. This time has proven to work for me ever semester. Kee up the good work!

It would be great to have a good and flexible (age wise and fitness wise) aerobic class twice per week at least on campus from after 5:00 p.m.

It would be nice to have the campus fitness centers open later for staff who finish their work day at 7:00p and for those who would like to exercise on the weekend. Providing more evening onsite exercise classes would be wonderful as well. Perhaps starting at 6:00p or 6:30p.

Offer more general aerobics classes, rather than Zumba or dance that is very specific and utilizes no weight training.

Would like to have a low-impact aerobics instructor for a low-impact class. In the past I've particpated in low-impact classes with high-impact instruction. Also I'd be very interested in having an additional 30 minutes added to the lunch hour for those that want to participate in lunch time activities like an exercise class. The extra 30 minutes would give time for showering and re-dressing.

Would love to see the Ballet Fitness class that is offered at East campus for credit, offered at West campus for fac/staff. One thing that makes it challenging to participate is that the sessions I'm intersted in are offered at lunch, too busy to leave the office when we need to cover advising and rotate lunches. Also, some work until 7pm so right after work doesn't always work either.

At Osceola Campus, the new Bldg 4 should have a small gym.

I oppose involving our health insurance provider, CIGNA,in our wellness program. I support the wellness program but this seems a bit invasive; CIGNA is in business to make money, and I feel like their interest in my wellness is purely financial.
