COME EXPLORE CATHOLICISM Do you have a family member or friend who is interested in learning about the Catholic faith? Do you know someone who was baptized Catholic as an infant, but never received any other sacraments, or attended religious education or Mass while growing up? Are you a visitor, curious about what the Catholic Church teaches? Perhaps thinking about joining the Catholic Church?

Catholic Inquiry sessions: Every Monday at 6pm in

Room 111. All are welcome to join us!

For more info, please call Edie Shanahan, 865-271-9276, or [email protected].

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In the Gospel today, Jesus says to us: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” By your gift to the parish food drives and monthly charity collection you also say to those who are poor: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” The next meeting of the Society will be at 9:15am on Friday, May 6 in the Deacon Jose Rivera Room. Call Larry Finneran at 865-657-9119 for more information.

St. Vincent de Paul will be collecting groceries on the 4th

Sunday of each month. Members will be in front of church 15 minutes before each Mass to collect your donations. Also, St. Vincent de Paul is now accepting donations of working major appliances in good condition (refrigerators, ranges, washers and dryers). Please call the help line (865) 274-8697 to arrange for pick up.

FLOWERS BY THE TABERNACLE Flowers by the Tabernacle this weekend are in loving memory of Parading Escobarte from Connie Miller.

FIRST FRIDAY 24-HOUR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Beginning Friday, May 6, parishioners will have the opportunity to spend an hour with our Lord at all times between 9 AM on First Friday and 8:30 AM on Saturday. A sign-up placard will be positioned in the narthex covering all hours. This broadened First Friday devotion is being offered because of the wonderful response to the worldwide 24-hour Adoration held earlier this month. There were at least four parishioners in the church for each hour. In order for Eucharistic Adoration to become a permanent observance on First Fridays, it is imperative that there be at least two persons in the church during each hour. The continued success of 24-hour Adoration depends on a core group of adorers who commit to the same hour each time. This ensures that all hours are filled and there are no gaps in attendance. Please prayerfully consider committing to a specific hour for each First Friday. The graces and blessings

associated with Eucharistic Adoration are abundant.

THANK YOU St. Thomas celebrated the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation by 41 young people on April 17th. We commend our Confirmandi on their dedication and openness to learn throughout the past year, and look forward to their continued spiritual growth through our Life Teen program.

Each Wednesday night a dedicated group of adults gave up their time to find a way to open the hearts and minds of these young people to the love of Jesus and the Church He established. Please offer your thanks to the following when you see them: Manny Espinoza, Jorge Garcia, Judy Buscetta, Sergio Nolazco, Lupe Cortes, Roberto Cortes, Maria Rios, Mary Wogan, and Juan Carlos Almanza.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST IN MAY MOVED TO

THE 2ND SUNDAY, MOTHER’S DAY Come enjoy Pancakes and MORE after 9:00am Mass on Sunday, May 8th. In addition to pancakes, knights serve sausage, mini omelets, French toast, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and coffee. Remember all proceeds from the pancake breakfasts go to support our diocesan seminarians and Knights of Columbus local charities. We hope to see you and thank you for your support.

CINCO DE MAYO CELEBRATION St. Thomas the Apostle Church

Proceeds will go towards the Home Campaign.

STAND UP FOR LIFE ON MOTHER'S DAY This weekend St. Thomas parishioners will have the opportunity to show their support for the life and dignity of each person, especially the unborn, by being part of a pro-life Mother's Day ad to be published in the East Tennessee Catholic. You will be able to sign this ad and donate after each Holy Mass. Please prayerfully consider participating. Thank you.
